lyrics

Words and tales, they come and go
Tales and fables above or below
Stories born and thrive in the mind of a poet
If the Choctaw did transcend through time
to see the cities, trash and slime
Would he even try to overthrow it?

Red roses for the heat of your love
Red wine to stop the push and shove
A love worth thirty dollars at the store
Instead let's let us plant the seed,
Crush the grapes with our feet
Don't need thirty dollars anymore

Cars go by in a hush-hush
My fellow man, he's in a rush-rush
And wastin' time ain't wastin' time to me

And everyday he takes a seat
down at the bar, he drinks his tea
'Cause he don't know where else he ought to be
And his clients try to cheap him
And his mama tries to keep him
Mixin' his business with his friends
His business took him to the woods,
Far from any neighborhoods
He said "Here I am, indeed a man again"

Rain and dreams, they come and go
Visions and sunshowers above or below
His religion and his savior are his cash
City dump stacked a hundred feet high
Piles of steel, they scrape the sky
Can you even clean up this kind of trash?

My neighbor came and said hello,
He likes to watch his roses grow
He said, "Boy, it's all inside the soil"
We live in such a busy city
And the only thing that's pretty
are the sunsets and the rainbow spots of oil

Some of us don't need another statement of our livin'
Some of us don't need or want much more than what we're given
And wastin' time ain't wastin' time to me

Wide Appalachian valley, smoke a-risin' through the trees
From the modest homes amongst the evergreens
They never met their neighbors, but they heard they're lots of fun
Heard they grow all their own veggies and get their power from the sun
Who knew?

Oh, movin' on, movin' on
I'm gonna get back to the land,
I'm up at dawn

I'm up at dawn
